Royal & Awesome Paints Pumpherston
Pumpherston became the most dazzling golf club in Scotland recently after Royal & Awesome kitted out more than 150 golfers playing for the chance to win a trip to the US Masters 2016.
The golfers made up 38 brightly dressed, qualifying four-ball teams during the grand final of the Golf in Scotland US Masters Texas Scramble series, all competing for the much-coveted Augusta trip.
Each team member – from a series which ran from April to September and saw more than 730 teams take part throughout Scotland – was rewarded with a pair of ‘Awesomes’ from Scotland’s brightest golf clothing brand to be worn in the final.
Four lucky fans of the spectacular brand also won the last four-ball entry after entering a competition on its recently launched blog, and placed 31st on the day.
The day’s top prize, however, went to the fittingly-named ‘The Devils Went Down to Georgia’, from Cruden Bay GC, who now look forward to a US Masters extravaganza, which includes seven nights’ accommodation, flights, transfers, three rounds of golf and guaranteed tickets for Sunday’s play.
Winning-team member Iain Castles said: “It’s the most excited I’ve been about a golf game – before, during and after – since I was a kid and I’m guessing most people felt the same way.”
Royal & Awesome brand director Graeme Smeaton said: “At Royal & Awesome, we cherish our Scottish heritage so this is something we were thrilled to get involved in.
“We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll see some Scottish players competing in the US Masters so we’re delighted to be able to help get a few more Scotsman out to Augusta to cheer them on.”
